the final push

Alright, here we go. The last of the pictures from our trip out West.

This is the Best Western we stayed at in Nebraska.
I'm pretty sure that this little town is one of the seven circles of hell.

Check out the size of the frog!!
They were ALL over the place.
And while I was taking the picture of the Hotel, I nearly had my legs eaten off by mosquitoes!

Here's a Sinclair dinosaur, for those who know what that is.

This picture speaks for itself.

As does this one.

This was where we stayed in Utah.
This was pretty much the ONLY thing in the entire little collection of houses one might call a town.
There wasn't even a McDONALD'S or a STARBUCKS!!!!

A hatch somewhere in Utah near the Great Salt Lake.

Self-explanatory.

Nevada.
Miles and miles of Nevada.

Welcome to CA...watch for the bumps.

and finally...
"This job is ridiculous"

And we made it!
and now we can get into current stuff.
stay tuned!

an incredible journey pt.2

well, we've returned from the fun and frivolity of the state fair (which deserves a post in-and-of itself), and now it's time to get back to business.
So, here we go.

DAY 1

On the open road.
(I don't like this picture very much...but it's all we have in MI)

Our first rest stop.
Notice how Jackie still looks so vibrant and full of life.

There was a slow-down just before we passed this mess.
I'm not sure why exactly, I got a pretty good look at it.

Not even out of Illinois and we see signs leading us back to our friends in MI.

This one pretty much speaks for itself.

Just when we thought the tears were dry...our second rest stop...I think...

I like to call this one - The Custard Station.
I found this "hatch" right outside of a Culver's.

This is the best we could do for Nebraska(which is actually better than I thought).
It's hard taking a picture as you drive into the setting sun.

This is Jackie Outside of the KING KONG Burger.
We didn't eat here, but we thought the ceramic monkeys were ridiculous.

Well, that's about it for day one.
Day two coming soon.
And the review will be up as soon as I finish the second book and write the review.

Peace.

an incredible journey

The moment you've all been waiting for - pictures of our trip across America!

LET'S GO!

Day #0

Here we see a picture of our chairs, ready to go.

A picture of all our stuff ready to be loaded onto the U-Haul.

Dad Snow and Andrew efficiently packing up the truck.

The final product.

Later that night!

That's about all I can manage for now...don't want to upload too many images in one go.

Also, be looking for my review comparing and contrasting two books on vocation and calling:
Let Your Life Speak by Parker Palmer and
Holy Discontent by Bill Hybels

Finally!!

After over a week-and-a-half of moving activities, everything is beginning to fall into place.
It's a beautiful thing!

The advent of the internet, provided by our friends at at&t and yahoo!, is only the latest step in this process.

As much as we wanted to chronicle our trip out west in "real-time," long days of driving and limited access to the internet sapped any motivation we may have had to do it the way we wanted.
Now that we have the internet at our apartment, this process will be facilitated much more simply.

That's all for now.
Here's a picture to give you an idea of what's ahead...or rather, what's behind -
